Kitsilano Modern Heritage Conversion

By inserting a new stair through three stories of the existing and new portions of the house, the newly created ground floor space is flooded with natural light from above. A continuity of materials between interior and exterior as well as large folding glass doors provide spaciousness and connections to landscape. The project anticipates an indoor/outdoor lifestyle in summer for a family with young children. Simple economic construction systems are complimented by warm Douglas Fir ceilings with discretely integrated lighting to allow the spaces to glow at night.
